Well you may have thought the season was over, and that the pitches at least would be put to bed, waiting for the 2012 season to get underway. However, you would be wrong. It’s a hive of activity over the club at the moment, with lots of work being carried out on both pitches, getting things in place, and ready for 2012…
So what’s going on….Well on Wednesday, the pitches were scarified, which for those of you not in the know, essentially means the removal of surface waste, nice….On Thursday, things really got going, with the pitches spiked,m seeded and loam sprean on the surface (don’t ask me what all that means).
Essex CCC groundsmen have been using a hell of a lot of materials, some of which include 240 bags of loam and 8 bags of grass seed. So who is this working party, well here is a list:
- Phil Jeggo
- Stuart Kerrison (Head Groundsman Essex CCC)
- 3 other Essex CCC Groundstaff
It’s also worth noting that all the equipment used has also been provided by Essex CCC, who are simply doing a great job on the pitches…
In addition to this work, club members will be excited to hear that the North Pitch initially had 14 strips, but was increased to 17 strips to allow more netting. However, for 2012, this pitch is being increased further, and will include 20 strips, allowing for more colt games and more out door net sessions on the square. The south pitch will remain at 14 strips…
Please find some images below of some of the work that’s going on at BCC…
